The camping and traveling season is just about in full swing for a few months now. And with the recession not looking any better I think getting back to the simple vacations are the way to go. What I mean by simple vacations is going camping. Now, there are a couple ways to take the family camping. One way is putting up the tent, basically roughing it out, the way I do it. I really need to take some time away from the TV, the internet, nothing but bad news lately. Plus I would really like to get back to the basics, well try to get back. The economy is still hurting vacation hotspots like the historic Greenbrier resort, which has just filed for bankruptcy. The owners, CSX Corp had stop funding the resort because of the heavy losses. Now their in the process of being purchased by the Marriot for about $130 million. Hopefully the Marriot will have the funds to get this resort through the recession. After all this resort is a truly historic resort.

Visiting a resort like Greenbrier could be very costly, out of my price range, that’s why I would consider getting a few beach vacation rentals instead. Spending time at the beach at an affordable price is what I’m looking to take. Or maybe a vacation to Disney World Orlando, FL. Spending a vacation at the Greenbrier isn’t really a family hotspot, but it’s a really nice resort. But for the family I’m going to stay with the beach. And that’s what’s why the Greenbrier is really hurting. They need to find away to bring the family to the resort. If they can’t do that, it doesn’t matter who runs the place.

Right now it seems to be the time to start booking your next summer Orlando vacations. I’ve searching around on the internet and have seen a few great deals. And if your not in the mood of searching use a travel agency. Their’s travel agency’s out there offering some of those great deals. Some of them are even canceling their booking fees to get your business. But you will need to book before May 31st to get that booking fee waived. Me personally I like to search for my own deals, but do understand why people use travel agency‘s. Travel agency’s do offer great deals at times, which make it worth using their services. If your not the type of person to haggle your rate then use a travel agency. But make sure you get the best deal you can, and do your research to make sure your getting the best rate. I always recommend that you call the resort or where ever your staying to check the rates given to you, just to be safe.

With the economy in a major downturn if you can afford to travel you should. So of the biggest hot spots are extremely slow right now. Those hot spot are places like Las Vegas, NV and Orlando, FL. You can stay on the Las Vegas Strip for dirt-cheap prices. Even sites like Westgate have huge deals you really can’t pass up. I’m even starting to look at some of these places to travel to. With rooms and other fun things to do being discounted I really can’t over look them anymore, and neither should you. Anyway, save some money and shop around for some great deals, there out there, you just gotta find them. So do your searches and you will find what you’re looking for, I guarantee it.

My wife’s side of the family is planning a vacation to Disney World in Orlando Florida this year. And dates just keep on changing for some; it’s driving me up the wall. Part of the family only wants to be there for 5 nights and others 7 nights. Really my wife and I want to stay for 7 nights, which we’re going to do.
