Kosar Files Bankruptcy!

Today ex-NFL superstar Bernie Kosar filed for bankruptcy. In the filing he has stated that he’s $19.5 million in debt. He has a list of people he owes money to, including his ex NFL team, the Brown and ex-wife. From what I read he even lost a restaurant he owned in Miami. Times are hard for a lot of people, even past superstars. Lately nothing seems to surprise me, I just wonder whose next to file. Hopefully other superstars playing right now will look at Kosar and think about managing their money better. Because once your out of the league you better have saved, or you will sink with the best of them.

Phelps Taking Time Off

Phelps Taking Time Off!

You read the title of the post correctly, U.S. Swimmer Michael Phelps has been suspended by the USA Swimming. He will be suspended for 3 months, plus all financial support from the USA Swimming. USA Swimming is trying to send a strong message that this type of behavior isn’t allowed, by anyone, even Phelps. I did read that Phelps did voluntarily accepted the suspension and work hard to earn back the trust that was given to him. I personally don’t know if 3 months is long enough, but what do I really know. I was surprise that the federation even gave a suspension considering he won eight gold medals in Beijing. So I guess this will do for know.

On The Hook

On The Hook!

As most of you know already – Michael Phelps as been caught smoking marijuana from a pipe. This type of inappropriate behavior won‘t cost him his medals, but very well could cost him millions of dollars. That’s because he stands the chance of being dropped by his sponsors.

The International Olympic Committee feel that his apology was sincere and feel he still can make for a great role model. Me personally feel this guy should no longer act as a role model. If during his personal time he chooses to break the law doesn’t make for a role model. Now if he once was a drug user and cleaned himself up, well that would be different, but that’s not the case here. Hopefully this will change his ways of acting dumb in front of other people, or in private.

The Mayor

The Mayor!

I just was reading the sports line and came across something that surprised me. I haven’t been surprised lately, so when I read this I fault I had to share it. Anyway, The Mayor of baseball is retiring after a short 12 year career. If you have no idea who the “The Mayor” is well I’ll tell you. That would be Sean Casey, who started his career back in 1998 with the Cincinnati Reds. Here’s why he’s known as “The Mayor,” it’s because everyone he seems to come in contact with knows him, and he knows them. I guess the reason for this is the fact that his position in the MLB was 1st base. Anytime a player on the other team made it to 1st base he would always greet them with a smile and started their name out with “Mr.” He would always joke with the base runners. He was very well liked by every player in the MLB, which says a lot about how he played the game. On top of being one of the true MLB players of the game, he was also a great player. He will end his career with a batting average of a 302, which is pretty good. On a side note, I think he has a few more good years left in him, but it’s his life and his choice. He also has a family at him, and this move could very well give him more time with them, which counts and should come first. Anyway, he’s now starting a new career with the MLB Network as a studio analyst. Which I’m sure he’ll have no problem at. The guy loves to talk, so he’ll fit right in. The game will miss him!
