As most of you know already – Michael Phelps as been caught smoking marijuana from a pipe. This type of inappropriate behavior hasn’t cost him his medals, but very well could cost him millions of dollars. That’s because he stands the chance of being dropped by his sponsors.

The International Olympic Committee feel that his apology was sincere and feel he still can make for a great role model. Me personally I feel this guy should no longer act as a role model. If during his personal time he chooses to break the law doesn’t make for a role model. Now if he once was a drug user and cleaned himself up, well that would be different, but that’s not the case here. Hopefully this will change his ways of acting dumb in front of other people, or in private. And maybe next time he’ll choose the Acid cigars over doing a drug, grow up Mike!

I normally don’t post things about the New England Patriots, but had to bring this up. Do you all remember how Tom Brady took over the starting roll for the New England Patriots? I do, he replace Drew Bledsoe when he got hurt. Bledsoe was a great quarterback tossed to the side by the Patriots. And now it looks like the Patriots might do it to injured Tom Brady. I guess what comes around goes around. I sure hope Brady is taking his proven fat burner , is there such a thing, don’t think so. The truth is Brady will be fine, he’s just a little banged up, he’ll play for now.

Here’s some pretty cool news I read about not to long ago. The New York Jets decided to give one of their #1 fans a game ball after they beat the New England Patriots, not their playoff win, it was a regular season game. The Jets Head coach presented the ball during the teams meeting. The ball was given to Ed Anzalone, a New York City firefighter for getting the crowed pump to rattle Tom Brady during the game. Just like any other team in the NFL, fans can help win games. And for dome team’s, their hard to beat. Anyway, this is the first time in NFL history a fan was given a game ball for keeping the crowd involved, which is cool. I could be wrong about my last statement, but I’ve never heard or read this happening before. So I say, next time you visit new york, ask around to see how many people know about this.

Lastly it seemed that Tiger Woods has been losing the respect of his pro golf buddies. But that wasn’t the case today when he was voted the PGA Tour player of the year by the players. This makes number 10 in his 13 years on tour. I read that this award will net him $10.5 million. He won 9 events after making his come back, but no majors. He was the points leader, which earning him the FedEx Cup, which paid him $10 million. Know that he’s won everything, including the kitchen sink, how much of the money will his wife take when she leaves him. He’s going to have to pay his wife a ton of money for support when she walks. I think she already agreed to a set amount, but now there’s kids involved. So for the most part, he’s going to be paying to keep the kids looking protected. He ruined his life, he will never be the same. And if his wife leaves, he’s going to look worst. He did this to himself, he deserves everything that happens to him.

Now that the MLB season is over, free agent players can now file to look for other teams to play for. The 2 big ones hunting for a new contract are World Series MVP Hideki Matsui, and team mate Johnny Damon, both New York Yankees. Both players are in their mid 30’s, so both will be fighting for the DH role. Some think that Damon is the better choice, but at this point who knows. Both guys are going to need to get their Kettlebells out of the closet and start working out. Because the Yankees are only looking for the fittest players. As for other free agents, totaling over 150 players, they too need to be in top shape. MLB teams will only sign top fit players, fiscally and mentally. Most of these players will find teams to play for, but their pay could be much lower, after all their getting older and slower. Only a hand full will end up making more, but not much more. What I do know, or think, the Yankees will either take Hideki Matsui or Johnny Damon, not both. Mostly because their both in their mid 30’s, and getting slower. For most of these players we won’t know their fate for about 2 months, so we’ll have to wait to see how everything plays out.

Today ex-NFL superstar Bernie Kosar filed for bankruptcy. In the filing he has stated that he’s $19.5 million in debt. He has a list of people he owes money to, including his ex NFL team, the Brown and ex-wife. From what I read he even lost a restaurant he owned in Miami. Times are hard for a lot of people, even past superstars. Lately nothing seems to surprise me, I just wonder whose next to file. Hopefully other superstars playing right now will look at Kosar and think about managing their money better. Because once your out of the league you better have saved, or you will sink with the best of them.

You read the title of the post correctly, U.S. Swimmer Michael Phelps has been suspended by the USA Swimming. He will be suspended for 3 months, plus all financial support from the USA Swimming. USA Swimming is trying to send a strong message that this type of behavior isn’t allowed, by anyone, even Phelps. I did read that Phelps did voluntarily accepted the suspension and work hard to earn back the trust that was given to him. I personally don’t know if 3 months is long enough, but what do I really know. I was surprise that the federation even gave a suspension considering he won eight gold medals in Beijing. So I guess this will do for know.

I just was reading the sports line and came across something that surprised me. I haven’t been surprised lately, so when I read this I fault I had to share it. Anyway, The Mayor of baseball is retiring after a short 12 year career. If you have no idea who the “The Mayor” is well I’ll tell you. That would be Sean Casey, who started his career back in 1998 with the Cincinnati Reds. Here’s why he’s known as “The Mayor,” it’s because everyone he seems to come in contact with knows him, and he knows them. I guess the reason for this is the fact that his position in the MLB was 1st base. Anytime a player on the other team made it to 1st base he would always greet them with a smile and started their name out with “Mr.” He would always joke with the base runners. He was very well liked by every player in the MLB, which says a lot about how he played the game. On top of being one of the true MLB players of the game, he was also a great player. He will end his career with a batting average of a 302, which is pretty good. On a side note, I think he has a few more good years left in him, but it’s his life and his choice. He also has a family at him, and this move could very well give him more time with them, which counts and should come first. Anyway, he’s now starting a new career with the MLB Network as a studio analyst. Which I’m sure he’ll have no problem at. The guy loves to talk, so he’ll fit right in. The game will miss him!

Here’s some more sports news for you guys. The Kansas city Chiefs hired a general manager – Scott Pioli. Scott Pioli was the man who help make the New England Patriots are today. Anyway he’s taking over a young team with money to spend to get some new talent in. And he will only have one person to answer to – Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt. So that means be will basically have total control over the franchise. This type of person is just what the Chiefs need to give them a fresh start next year. Oh, and here’s a little did you know about Pioli. He’s the son-in-law of Bill Parcells, who’s the head boss for the Miami Dolphins, pretty interesting. I’m sure Parcells has taught Pioli a lot about managing an NFL team. After all Parcells is one of the greats in NFL history. This was a great selection by the Chiefs, Pioli will have this team up and running in no time. I only wish that the Vikings had tried to hire him.

I came a cross a pretty cool sports related website tonight that I would like to share with all of you. Most of you know I’m a sports nut and do a lot of reading on sports and most importantly the NFL. Know I have sites that I get a lot of sports news off already, but now that I found Comcast.net’s sports section I will be using them as well. And the reason why I’m going to be using them is because I was amazed how user friendly the site is. And I also like how all the top stories are right in your face, listed big and at the top. And they just don’t cover the NFL, they cover just about every sport there is. They offer sports news, videos, scores, picks and anything else you can think of. So if you’re a sports nut like I’m and tired of the sites your using just click on the link within this post. I’m sure you’ll find that their site covers the sports news your looking for. It won’t hurt you to just check the site out. And you never know, you just might find yourself back to the site like me.
