I have been looking around on the internet for a few days now looking to see if I could find a university to get an affordable online degree. And to my surprise I found a university that was started by 19 Governors. The university is Western Governors Online University. They started at with about 500 students, all online. Today they serve around 19,000 students. And what makes this university worth checking out is that their an credited university. I will be checking out WGU for myself and my wife. My wife would love to finish her teaching degree. If she can get an online teaching degree in less time and save money that would be great. The jobless claims are on the raise once again. Although there was a very small drop in unemployment insurance claims we’re still at an all time high. Reported by The Labor Department there are 5.84 plus million people without a job. That number is just based on the people getting checks from the Government. So how many people are really without a job? I would be willing to bet that there are more than 6 million people without work. We haven’t seen numbers like this since the great depression. We hear the stories from the people that lived through the great depression, now we will have our own stories to tell about this one. No one wants to say it, but this is just like the great depression. The only thing that’s is different is that we have unemployment insurance and huge government borrowing. If we didn’t have these two things we would be in a world of hurt, and that’s the truth.

The U.S. markets in its final hour had a sharp turn for the better, which hasn’t happened in a few months. This turn for the better was mainly because of the Obama administration was coming up with a plan to subsidize mortgage payments for troubled homeowners. This is good news because it could stop foreclosures from happening. I don’t think that it would be totally fair to the people that have been paying their bills, but if it stops foreclosures I’m for it. I hate to see or read about thousands of people losing their homes. So, if this new plan works maybe we as a nation can get back on track.

I was just reading about a MS nursing (Master of Science) program being offered by Saint Xavier University’s School of Nursing. This school has been providing the best education a professional nurse could get for over 70 years. However, Saint Xavier University’s School of Nursing only accepts you if you have already received your bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university. After all you would be joining the Masters in Nursing program, so you can see why they want nurses looking to learn more. So if you’re a nurse looking to further your education you really need to check Saint Xavier University’s School of Nursing out. If your not a nurse but know one pass this information how, I think they would appreciate it.

Today Starbucks Corp. released 1st quarter profits, which where down almost 70 percent. That’s a huge percent to be down, that’s almost bankruptcy, which I’m sure will happen in a few months. There’s no way Starbucks can continue to offer $4.00 cups of coffee and stay in business. Most of their customers are the ones losing their jobs. And most of the other people like me are heading to McDonalds for the same crap. Heck, I can’t even remember the last time I purchased a cup of coffee.

Anyway, Starbucks is closing another 300 hundred stores on top of their 600 already planed. Their stating that this will result in about 6000 retail jobs lost and about 700 office jobs. I read that this cut will save them about $500 million this year. Hopefully they will be able to transfer some of those employees across the street to their other store, you know what I mean, and it’s true.
