State In Trouble

State In Trouble!

Over the weekend the state of California was unable to pass a budget that would close their $42 billion gap. Now Governor Schwarzenegger will need to layoff about 20,000 state workers. Also, all public works projects will come to a halt. Just by the cuts coming and the halt of projects just show that maybe there is some wasteful spending going on here. That just so happens how the state Republicans feel, but not the Demarcates.

By the numbers, this is what the Demarcates want – $15.1 billion in program cuts $14.4 billion in tax increases and $11.4 billion in borrowing. In my opinion raising taxes never work. The state of California is already losing more people then any other state in the Union. So why in the world would they want to raise taxes on the people and businesses staying? I have no answer to that, maybe some of you do. What I think as well as many others is they need to cut spending and services, all states need to do this. If you ever really look at a state budget for services you would be shocked. We do offer a lot of services that make no since. So Governor Schwarzenegger can start there and bring back services when the tax base calls for it. Seems pretty easy, because it is. The problem is no one ever wants to make the hard choice of cutting those jobs out.

First Big Victory

First Big Victory!

That’s what President Obama is claming right now, his first big victory in Congress for getting his $787 billion economic stimulus bill passed. That’s only because the Democrats rule the government, they’re all on the same team. The Democrats are all Obamas little tools, they’ll do whatever he wants them to do. Here’s what I don’t understand, Obama is waiting till Tuesday to sign the bill into law, he’ll be in Denver, CO when this is done. My point is, President Obama shouldn’t wait on this, he should do it right away, unless he’s still not sure about it. To me that’s the message being sent, he’s unsure. This bill isn’t going to work no matter when it’s signed. The road to recovery won’t happen until at lease another year or two. Anyway, if you have plans on getting any work done around your home like an aluminum fence installation get it done as soon as you can, before the country goes broke.

Saving Homes

Saving Homes!

The U.S. markets in its final hour had a sharp turn for the better, which hasn’t happened in a few months. This turn for the better was mainly because of the Obama administration was coming up with a plan to subsidize mortgage payments for troubled homeowners. This is good news because it could stop foreclosures from happening. I don’t think that it would be totally fair to the people that have been paying their bills, but if it stops foreclosures I’m for it. I hate to see or read about thousands of people losing their homes. So, if this new plan works maybe we as a nation can get back on track.
