Stocks On The Rise!

Today seems like it’s going to be a good day for Wall Street. The spark that sent stocks upward was due to a GDP, report. And the drop in jobless claims is also fueling the Dow Jones industrial average, which is over $125 for the day so far. The one thing that could hurt the Dow Jones today is the rise in oil prices. Oil right now is over $120 for a barrel. This rise in price is because of the Tropical Storm Gustav, which is heading towards the Gulf of Mexico. This storm has already taken the lives of over 22 people and many still missing or faired dead. And it doesn’t look has it’s getting weaker, it’s getting stronger. The sad thing right now is that it’s heading towards Louisiana and areas devastated by Hurricanes Katrina three years ago. The only question that remains is, how strong will Gustav be when it hits land. Hopefully it will remain a Tropical Storm, but you just never know when it hits Gulf of Mexico.

Stocks Start Slow!

In the early morning trading stocks where fluctuating due to oil. Oil is on the raise because of the Tropical Storm Gustav, which might hit the Gulf of Mexico. Any time chances are of a storm coming in oil always goes up. The price of oil rose to almost $119.00 a barrel on the exchange. Which is still considerably lower than it has been. We really don’t need another big storm in that area. I think America has been hit hard by storms over the last few years. These storms are hurting our economy and most importantly the people in the region of these storms. Anyway, hopefully this storm will just past by with no lost of life and a small amount of damage.
