Rev Jesse Jackson
Rev. Jesse Jackson!
The only thing I have to say on a story I came across on Yahoo is WOW. It appears that Rev. Jesse Jackson used the N-word during a break in a TV interview. During this same interview he was criticizing presidential candidate Barack Obama. This story was confirmed by Fox News on Wednesday. I find this very hard to believe coming from a man that has pushed so hard to have the N-word removed from the entertainment industry, including rappers, actors and studios. He also has asked people to boycott purchasing DVD copies of the TV sitcom “Seinfeld” because of what Michael Richards was taped using the word. Here’s what Jackson has stated in a statement “I am deeply saddened and distressed by the pain and sorrow that I have caused as a result of my hurtful words. I apologize again to Senator Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, their children as well as to the American public. There really is no justification for my comments and I hope that the Obama family and the American public will forgive me. I also pray that we, as a nation, can move on to address the real issues that affect the American people.” Also coming out of Jackson’s civil rights organization, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, stated that they could not confirm that Jackson used the slur. Well, it’s on tape, and tapes don’t lie. This will differently hart him for a long time to come.
