World Series Of Poker

World Series Of Poker!

Scotty Nguyen is this year’s winner at World Series of Poker.  Which also makes him a 5-time winner of this event.  His last win came back in 2001.  This year’s grand prize was $2,000,000 plus the gold bracelet.  At times it seems like the top poker players are really just playing to get that gold World Series of Poker bracelet. Nguyen beat Michael DeMichele in H.O.R.S.E., which is a rotating-game tournament.  Also, if you didn’t know, anyone can go for the grand prize, if you have $50,000 to enter with.  This year’s event had 148 players pay that huge fee to enter.  I will end on this note, DeMichele shouldn’t be that unhappy today, after all he walked away with $1.24 million for his second place finish.  Great job guys!

2009 Ford Shelby GT500!

2009 Ford Shelby GT500Ok everyone, here it is - The 2009 Shelby GT500 . This is going to be one of the hottest selling cars for Ford. And the gas prices won’t even matter to the buyers. Here’s a few quick information on this monster. The Shelby is a 2-door sports car that has two models, one is a coupe and the other is a convertible. This monster is equipped with the standard 5.4-liter, V8, 500-horsepower, supercharged engine. The transmission is a 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive, which also is standard. I bet your wondering how much it is? You can order one at any local Ford Dealership for $47,510. If you’re asking me, I think this is a reasonable price for the car. I might just go and give one a test drive.

Airlines Scam Us

Airline’s Scam Us!

This just came in….. It seems that four airlines - Air France-KLM, Cathay Pacific Airways, Martinair Holland and SAS Cargo Group have jacked the price of shipping cargo. From what I read, executives from each of the airlines would meet in the United States, Europe and Asia to put the price-fixing scheme in place. They would set and raise the cargo rates, fuel surcharges and security costs for most every business and consumer. So what do you think happened to these bloodsuckers? Well, we sort of got them back. We slapped them on the hand and gave them a fine. Yes, we fined the four international airlines for a total of $504 million, which they agreed to pay. Air France-KLM got hit the hardest with a fine of $350 million to settle. Here’s what I think, we should have thrown all the executives that where price-fixing the rates in jail. Is it too late to do this, I hope not!

U.S. History

U.S. History!

For the very first time in U.S. history a woman could become a four-star general.  This promotion/nomination comes only from the President of the United States.  Then it’s up to the U.S. Senate to confirm her.  If the Senate confirms Lt. Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody, she will head up the Army Materiel Command, which is responsible for equipping, outfitting and arming soldiers in the Army.  I think this is great news coming out of the Army.  Heck, after all we almost had a woman for President.  Things are changing around us everyday, some for the better, some for the worst.  This change is definitely for the better.  And I say good luck on getting confirmed from the Senate.  Here’s a little side note I didn’t know about.  Did you know that by law, the Army is only limited to 11 active-duty four-star generals?  I had no clue this was so, did you?
